The Ministry of Finance is eyeing amendments to the gaming law. The gaming laws that are being reviewed are:
(a) Common Gaming Houses Act 1953;
(b) Pool Betting Act 1967;
(c) Lotteries Act 1952; and
(d) Betting Act 1953
To keep up with the advancement of technology, this initiative is timely.
Although the Ministry has not indicated when the amendment will be tabled and take effect, industry players and practitioners are encouraged to keep a close watch on this.
Any amendment to the Gaming laws would have an impact over the Malaysian Code of Advertising Practice and the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Code, both of which are guidelines when taking out advertisements in Malaysia.
